The Modern And Ancient Center Of Athens

  Walking through the modern city, we will see the beautiful neoclassical buildings of the Science Academy , the First University, and the National Library. We will then head towards Parliament and stop at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier honourably guarded by Evzones (Military Unit ), dressed in traditional 19th century military uniform. After this, we will walk through the National Garden towards the Panathenaic Stadium, where in 1896 the first modern Olympics were revived. We will pass by the Zappio Palace, the Temple of Olympian Zeus and enter the old part of the city called Plaka.

Marathon

Marathon museum and burial tomb.

 Who hasn’t heard about the famous  Marathon Battle and Marathon Races?!!!! Let’s go to see where everything happened back then! Approaching the Marathon Dam, we will make a short stop to look at the beautiful lake  and take pictures. Later on   we will visit the Archaeological Museum of Marathon to see the artifacts from excavations . Next stop will be the Marathon plain itself,  where the Greek intelligence and strategy  defeated the “invincible Persians” 2.500 years ago and all  these ancient maneuvers are still taught in military schools around the world to this day!  The Marathon Tomb, a massive mound that covered the cremated remains of the 192 Athenians who  died in this battle and were buried where they fell.  Marathon battle…. A battle of Democracy for freedom…. Marathon Races as a tribute to our history.
